Danish food company Danisco has said that following approval from the relevant authorities it has closed its acquisition of Rhodia Food Ingredients for DKK2.4bn (US$395m) from French chemicals group Rhodia.

“Danisco hereby takes another major step towards realising its goal of being the leading supplier of ingredients to the food industry,” the company said.

With the addition of Rhodia’s food ingredients business, Danisco said its product platform has been considerably expanded – notably within speciality products and texturant products.

Danisco said the integration of Rhodia Food Ingredients involves the formation of a new product division within cultures, Danisco Cultures, to be headed by Fabienne Saadane-Oaks. The other activities will be integrated into the Specialities, Textural Ingredients and Functional Systems divisions.
