The European Commission has approved 20 programmes in 11 member states to provide information on and to promote agricultural products in the European Union.


The total budget of the programmes is €48.2m (US$63.1m), of which the EU will contribute half. The 20 programmes in Belgium, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom cover organic products, olive oil, milk, meat, eggs, wine, fruit, flowers, mushrooms and potatoes.


The approved programmes are the second series for the year 2004; the first series was approved in June 2004. The annual EU budget available for promotion programmes in the agriculture sector is €48.5m.
