The European Commission has approved a joint venture between two dairy giants – Fonterra of New Zealand and Campina of the Netherlands.
The companies will combine their pharmaceutical and chemical lactose activities, their business of selling edible and pharmaceutical grade lactose for fine chemical manufacture and their excipients business.
The EC found that the proposed transaction would not impede competition in the European Economic Area.
