The Greek cheese industry is set to receive EUR2.6m (US$3.5m) in marketing subsidies from the European Commission over three years, while the Irish meat sector – under pressure from the dioxin crisis – has been granted EUR234,000.


In total, Brussels said it is releasing EUR17.8m in marketing assistance to sell food outside the EU.


Other winners include Italian meat producers, with the lion’s share of a EUR1.9m handout and Bulgarian dairy producers who score around EUR1m.
