This week the Executive Board of ECR Europe announced that two of the consumer goods industry’s best-known CEOs have agreed to serve as the next co-chairs of the world’s leading “Efficient Consumer Response” movement.

Sir Terry Leahy, CEO of Tesco Stores, and Franck Riboud, chairman and CEO of Groupe Danone, will take the helm in a formal handover on-stage on the closing day of the 2002 ECR Europe Conference and Marketplace in Barcelona, 22-24 April.

They will succeed the current co-chairs, Antony Burgmans, CEO, Unilever, and Luc Vandevelde, chairman and CEO of Marks & Spencer, who will be retiring from the board after guiding ECR Europe through three years of spectacular growth.

Antony Burgmans and Luc Vandevelde will open the plenary session of the Conference, sharing their personal insights on “Supplying Consumers in an Uncertain World”. Sir Terry and Franck Riboud will respond to the challenges set by their predecessors in their acceptance remarks on the afternoon of Wednesday, 24 April.  In doing so, they will lay the foundation for the wide-ranging CEO panel discussion that is now the traditional closing highlight of the Conference.

Sir Terry and Riboud are at the cutting edge of leadership in the international fast moving consumer goods industry. Both are 46 and have distinguished careers in their respective companies.
