Detailed plans have been released outlining cooperation on food safety issues agreed between the US Food and Drug Administration and the European Commission’s directorate generals for food safety and enterprise.


At last month’s EU-US summit in Washington. American and European Union leaders agreed that these bodies’ officials should meet to identify specific regulatory cooperation projects and on sharing information.


The plans also involve officials discussing dovetailing European and American hazard awareness and control point procedures (HACCP) for both sides’ meat and meat product manufacturing. And there was agreement that the FDA and the European Food Safety Authority should share data.
