Lännen Tehtaat, the Finland-based food group, is to merge its vegetable oils business with its grain and feed trading arm.
The company, which trades in food commodities and operates in the frozen food and seafood sectors, has decided to sell the shares of vegetable oils unit Mildola to Avena Nordic Grain, in which it owns an 85% stake.
Earlier today, Lännen Tehtaat posted a slump in half-year profits and said it hopes the merger will create annual synergies of EUR500,000 (US$714,000).
Avena Nordic Grain MD Kaija Viljanen has, with immediate effect, also taken on the role of Mildola’s MD.
