Finnish meat products group HK Ruokatalo has seen a strong showing at home boost profits during the first quarter.
The company said today (27 April) that operating profit reached EUR9.2m (US$12.6m), jumping from EUR4.7m a year earlier. Revenue rose EUR498.6m, climbing from EUR455.8m last year.
Sales in Finland jumped 13% to EUR155.5m thanks to growth from HK Ruokatalo’s poultry and processed meat businesses. The company, however, said profits from its domestic meat business remain “inadequate”.
HK Ruokatalo’s losses in Sweden narrowed as sales rose, while the company also enjoyed rising sales in the Baltic states.
