Carrefour has reorganised the way it runs its European business – with its operations on the continent outside France to be run as two regions.

The world’s second-largest retailer has decided to give CFO Pierre-Jean Sivignon responsibility for its stores in Spain and Italy. Further north, Gérard Lavinay, the head of its Belgian business, will take on its outlets in Poland and Romania.

The changes will see the head of Carrefour Europe, Thomas Hubner, leave the business.

Carrefour said the changes were part of its “policy of decentralisation”.
