French retail giant Carrefour said today (4 November) that executive committee member Guy Yraeta, head of the company’s European operations, is leaving the company.
A Carrefour spokesperson told just-food that managers in charge of operations in Europe will report directly to chief executive Lars Olofsson temporarily, until a new head of European operations is nominated.
Yraeta, who has worked for the company for 33 years, was also in charge of the company’s hypermarket restructuring project.
He is the second person working on the company’s hypermarkets to leave in less than a month.
In October Carrefour confirmed that it plans to replace the head of its hypermarket business, Alain Souillard, after posting “weak” third-quarter sales at the unit.
