French group Danone has today (Thursday) reported like for like sales growth of 5.1% in the first quarter of 2005.
Group sales were €3.148bn (US$4.05bn) compared with €3.123bn in the same period last year. They include €1.713 bn of dairy products (€1.615bn in Q1 2004), €797m of beverages (€799m), €565m of biscuits and cereal products (€631m) and €73m from other food businesses (€78m).
Most, €2.043bn of Danone’s sales were in Europe, compared with €2.047bn last year. Salees in Asia in the first quarter of 2005 were €539m (€532m a year ago), while sales in the rest of the world were €566m (€544m).
Danone described its first quarter performance as in line with overall group expectations.
