French foie gras-to-ready meals maker Delpeyrat has confirmed the acquisition of seafood companies Viviers de France and Viviers Marins from Norwegian group Havfisk.

The value of the transaction has not been disclosed. Generating a combined turnover of EUR75m, the two businesses employ 230 staff and process almost 15,000 tonnes of fish annually, predominantly serving the supermarket channel.

Delpeyrat president Thierry Blandinières said the acquisition would allow the company to emerge as one of the main players in the salmon and seafood segment.

Delpeyrat diversified into salmon last year with the acquisition of a processing unit to cater to the top end of the market. Its commercial activities in the segment began only several weeks ago.
