Europe’s leading poultry processing group, Doux, is planning to shed a further 200 jobs.
The group had already announced a redundancy programme affecting 334 jobs in May 2003, which included the closure of an abattoir for ducks at Malansac.
Doux employs just over 6,000 staff in France.
While the group posted a positive net income of €5m (US$6.1m) in 2003 against losses of more than €20m the previous year, it points to continued poor market conditions in the sector.
