French poultry processor Groupe Doux is creating around 80 new jobs in response to continued growth in its export business, in particular to the Middle East.

The company will employ more staff at its abbatoir and processing plant in Plouray and Brittany

“We will move to 24-hour production at the Plouray plant, in line with our two other export plants at Châteaulin and Chatonnay,” a spokesperson told just-food. “With three plants operating around the clock, we are increasing our export output by 30%.”

Earlier this year, Doux created 125 and 80 new jobs respectively at its plants in Châteaulin and Chatonnay, in order to keep pace with export growth, which is being driven by demand for frozen full chickens, the spokesperson said.
