French co-operative Euralis has named former Kraft Foods executive Alian Tapie to head its food division.

The post has been occupied on an interm basis by Euralis’s president, Pierre Couderc, since the start of the year, following the departure of Giampaolo Schiratti.

Tapie, 54, joins Euralis from Kraft where he was MD for its business in eastern and south-east Europe. His career has also included spells with Danone and Mars Inc. He will take the role next month.

Earlier this year, Euralis announced it was shedding 60 jobs through a re-organisation of its loss-making food division. The revamp focused on subsidiary, Staleven, whose portfolio includes foie gras brand Rougié and cold meats and deli brand Jean Staleven.
