French retail group Les Mousquetaires, the parent company of Intermarche, has appointed Jean-Pierre Meunier as its president.

Meunier was appointed to the role on Wednesday (24 November) during the company’s annual general assembly.

Meunier joined the group in 1986 and has held a number of roles, including president of the Bricomarché retail brand in 1989 and from chairman of ITM Enreprises from 1998 to 2002. He was responsible for the group’s international alliances from 2003 to 2006 and joined the group’s board in 2006. He succeeds Michel Pattou.

The company also confirmed that  Marc Legrand will continue in his role as the chairman of ITM Business. He has been in the role since 2008. He joined the group in 1988 as a store manager.
