France-based cheese maker Mifroma has acquired 85% of Swiss peer Dörig Käsehandel.
The acquisition of Dörig, which specialises in the production of Appenzeller cheese, was made in bid to strengthen its position on both the Swiss market and overseas.
The agreement is subject to the approval of the Swiss Competition Commission.
Mifroma is a subsidiary of Swiss firm Migros Group and is the market leader in Switzerland for hard and semi-hard cheese.
In June this year, Mifroma acquired French dairy group Ambilly.
