Milk producers are staging a demonstration in Paris today (7 June) in a bid to up the pressure on supermarket group E.Leclerc to raise dairy prices.
Agricultural union FNPL has organised a march that will culminate in protests outside the headquarters of Leclerc Ivry-sur-Seine.
A spokesperson for the FNPL said that producers want Leclerc to open negotiations with milk suppliers over pricing. “Leclerc is one of the retailers that has refused to reflect the mounting cost of producing milk in its pricing and this needs to be addressed,” the union spokesperson said.
Leclerc was unavailable for comment at time of press.
