French delicatessen group Stalaven is investing €9m in a new plant to produce freshly prepared mixed salad dishes.
The family-owned, Brittany-based group is set to build a 7,000 sq.m facility at Saint-Agathon, in the Cote d’Armor departement which will supply both the supermarket and catering markets.
Scheduled to enter service in the first half of 2007, it will have the capacity to process up to 10,000 salad dishes annually such as piemontaise, taboule and grated carrot.
Initially, the new plant will employ 40 staff but this could rise to 150 by 2010.
