FrieslandCampina has acquired Spain-based cheese co-packer and distributor Millán Vicente, a move the Dutch dairy cooperative suggests will help to grow its business in Iberia.

The financial details of the deal have not been disclosed.

Millán Vicente, based in Zaragoza, was founded in 1995 by its current CEO Antonio Millán and provides a wide variety of cheeses to retailers. It has been a partner of FrieslandCampina in Spain for many years.

Roel van Neerbos, president of FrieslandCampina’s consumer dairy business, said: “With this acquisition, combining the local commercial expertise and flexibility of Millán Vicente we can further grow, innovate and strengthen our product offering for consumers and customers, in Spain and Portugal.”

Antonio Millán, former owner and CEO of Millán Vicente, said: “This partnership allows the business and people to further grow and succeed under the ownership of FrieslandCampina.”

Mr Millán will remain involved to help grow the business.

Millán Vicente will be integrated into the Iberian business of FrieslandCampina.

It is the second distributor acquisition this month by FrieslandCampina. In early December FrieslandCampina announced it was buying Jana Foods, a US-based business that imports and markets its cheese.
