The German Agriculture Minister has called for a delay of some EU farm reforms agreed in November due to a crisis facing dairy farmers, according to reports.

Ilse Aigner told Reuters today (19 March) that the German government wants a suspension on the EU’s programme in a bid to increase milk production quotas by 1% this year, following a large fall in milk prices.

Aigner said: “We have a dramatic situation on the milk market. The existence of large farms is also starting to be threatened.”
