German retail giant Rewe is to merge two of its business units in a bid to create “more efficient structures”, the company said today (21 August).
The company’s Rewe-Zentral grocery division and Rewe Deutscher Supermarket will merge their business units nationally, including the administrative subdivisions, logistics as well as the goods trading units into a joint subsidiary under the name of Rewe Markt GmbH.
The retailer said it hopes the merge will “increase transparency, streamline corporate structures and improve the management of the business units, which will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness”.
The merger will enter into force as soon as approval has been received.
