Electronic giants Motorola have teamed up with Germany’s GeneScan Europe to develop new DNA detection tools for genetically modified crops.


The tools will utilize Motorola’s eSensor DNA detection system, which relies on bioelectronics. The technology that uses organic molecules to form electronic circuits that can detect and quantify many different DNA targets at once has already been shown to be effective in studies detecting panels of bacterial or viral targets and SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms), the most common form of genetic mutation in humans, plants and animals
