Greek snack and croissant producer Chipita International is planning to enter markets in Africa as part of its long-term development strategy.

The company, which is trying to reduce its non-core operations and focus on core businesses, is particularly interested in the Egyptian and Nigerian markets, where it plans to set up joint ventures with local companies.

Chipita also plans to expand in Europe through joint ventures and plans to open a production unit in Serbia in 2003, reported the Greek News Digest.
