Britannia Industries, India’s largest biscuit maker, has posted an 8% rise in quarterly profits on the back of a 20% jump in sales.

The company booked an 8.3% increase in operating profit to INR600m (US$14.1m) for the three months to the end of June as revenue rose 20.2% to INR6.9bn.

Managing director Vinita Bali said Britannia had upped its focus on its key brands and launched new products including GoodDay Classic.

“The company has maintained its growth momentum and operating margin in a highly inflationary and competitive market,” Bali added.
