Indian food processor Himalya International has reached an agreement with the US arm of Aldi to deliver the Himalya Fresh brand to the US market.

Aldi will sell frozen vegetables, breaded appetizers and other Himalaya Fresh products through its chain of US supermarkets.

“Aldi will sell around US$3m-worth of Himalaya Fresh products in the first year. The first consignment of 100 tonnes of frozen vegetables and breaded appetizers was shipped last week” said Himalya International chairman and CEO ManMohan Malik.

The company has forecast US exports will grow by 60% this financial year, to a value of around $10m.

Himalya International is also investing $25m in the construction of a new food processing plant in Gujarat, targeting revenues of $200m from the facility by 2012.
