Food behemoth Nestlé India has launched Operation Som Ras to uncover the business potential of the relatively untapped chilled dairy drinks sector in India.

Alongside the extensive market research, Nestlé is mulling entrance into the newly emerging market of fruit-based milk drinks.

”Nestle is a worldwide leader in chilled dairy and in India we’re looking at this category from a long-term perspective,” a spokesperson from the company told the Financial Express.

“If consumer preference indicates a potential market, then fruit-based milk drinks could be a part of our portfolio in the future,” the report continued, pointing out that one of the first products receiving attention by the company is a mango-based milk drink for children called Nestlé Natural Fruit-n-Milk.
