Ingredients, flavours and consumer foods group Kerry  has bought a British ready meals business for £125m (US$222m), according to the Irish Business World website, which cited a report in the Sunday Business Post newspaper.

The purchase of Noon was tied up last week, the Sunday Business Post said, but it hd not yet been announced.

Noon produces Indian style dishes in a factory at Southall in London.

It was taken private by a buyout group in 2001, the paper said, and is now being sold by a private equity group. The purchase will strengthen Kerry’s position in the branded foods arena, where it already owns Mattesons, Denny, Dawn and Ballyfree.
