The export of food from Israel will amount to US$1bn within four years, compared with 2005 export volume totaling $650m, according the Israel Export Institute.

The 60% surge in the export volume is attributed to the increased marketing efforts of large food companies, significant investments in new technologies, and identifying new marketing niches such as health foods, gourmet foods, food additives, organically based food products, and the penetration of new markets.

According to the Export Institute, there are 250 Israeli food exporters, and this figure is expected to grow in the future.
