Swiss ice cream producer Mövenpick is terminating activities in Israel, five years after a local business enterprise was awarded the franchise. Last week, the local franchise holder closed the last two restaurants it operated, both located in road junctions on major highways in the Lower Galilee. A report in Yediot Aharonot notes that the original plan was to establish ten roadside restaurants in Israel by the end of this year, but so far only three such restaurants have opened.

The decision to close down the Mövenpick restaurants here stems from continuous losses, despite attempts to implement recovery and efficiency measures
