Israel has become one of just six countries in the world to be granted a seal
of approval by the USDA to export Israeli poultry meat to the US. The approval
came after the USDA conducted thorough inspections in Israeli chicken processing
plants to ensure that the products slated for export to the USA meet the standards
of hygiene and the required veterinary supervision. The USDA representative inspected
four slaughterhouses and ten processing plants. As new companies enter the market,
and following the USDA approval, it is expected that Israel’s export of poultry
meat to the USA, now amounting to just US$5m, will increase significantly in the
next two to three years.
