Italian restaurants operator Saizeriya will enter the fast food business in Japan this summer by offering hamburgers 20-30% cheaper than those of McDonald’s Japan.
Japanese food company Saizeriya, which operates a chain of over 700 Italian restaurants across the country, said it is continuously examining business development of the fastfood business as part of its corporate strategy in the future.
Saizeriya says it has already put together a project team for the establishment of burger-style fastfood outlets and hopes to have completed sales tests by the start of spring.
Japan’s fast food market is worth billions of dollars with hamburger sales accounting for a large segment of the market.
