US burrito-to-pretzel business J & J Snack Foods has snapped up local in-store bakery supplier Hill & Valley.

“This acquisition rounds out our in-store bakery offerings by expanding our capabilities and customer base, and provides us a newly constructed facility that has ample capacity for growth and a nimble production process,” Jerry Law, J&J’s senior vice president, said today (3 January).

J&J did not disclose the price it paid for the Illinois-based business. It said Hill & Valley generates annual sales of more than US$45m. Hill & Valley supplies products including cakes, cookies and pies to in-store bakers in the US. It is also a private-label manufacturer for US retailers.

Doug Davidson, Hill & Valley’s president, who will be staying on with J&J, said: “J&J brings substantial resources to Hill & Valley on all levels that will continue to make us a valued added supplier to our customers and a company that brings solutions to the table.”
