Japan’s Kanebo Foods says it has developed fragranced foods that leave the consumer smelling fragrant through their skin.

Working with the Nagoya Institute of Technology, Kanebo established through lab experiments that foods impregnated with extract of geraniol found in roses and vanillic aldehyde derived from vanilla had a fragrant effect on the consumer’s skin that lasted for up to four hours.

The company has now patented chewing gums containing the two ingredients and hopes to market them in the near future.
