The Japanese Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said on Monday that it would postpone a decision to allow local governments to publicly announce suspected cases of BSE, even before official tests results from the ministry have proved conclusive.


The ministry is set instead to ask authorities to announce the findings of its primary inspection tests on a daily, case-to-case basis at local government level.


A rigorous inspection of all cows to be processed for human consumption is due to begin on Thursday.
