Nippon Meat Packers will launch a new brand of quality Home Meal Replacement  (HMR) this summer, including roast beef, soups and other European style menu items developed in cooperation with well-known restaurant chefs. The products are expected to hit department stores shelves beginning this June.

The project corresponds to Japan’s rapidly aging society’s increasing demands for quality HMR. According to the population estimate announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the ratio of people over 65 years old increased to 20 % of Japan’s total population for the first time in history. Japan now has the highest percentage of the aged among industrialized nations.
