The Kenyan government expects the country to double its export earnings from fish and fish products this year to around KES8bn (US$98.5m).
Kenya’s livestock and fisheries minister Joseph Munyao said sales of Kenyan tilapia, black bass and common carp had been boosted by overseas demand, reported Reuters.
“We long passed the (normal) annual revenue mark. We are bracing for a celebration of double earnings from the fish industry this year. It is an achievement we must all support,” Munyao was quoted as saying.
