The Malaysia unit of French retail giant Carrefour has said it expects 2003 sales to rise 10% with the opening of a new outlet near Kuala Lumpur.
Carrefour Malaysia invested Rgt24m (US$6.3m) to set up the new outlet, which it expects will boost 2003 sales to around Rgt890m. The company has invested more than Rgt575m in all its stores over the last nine years, AFX Asia reported, citing local media.
Carrefour is planning to open its eighth Malaysian outlet in Selangor in June 2004, and is also believed to be considering opening a store in Kepong.
