The supervisory board of beleaguered Dutch retail giant Royal Ahold has announced its intention to nominate Jan Hommen as one of its members.

The nomination of Hommen, who is currently vice chairman and chief financial officer of Royal Philips Electronics will be proposed at the next annual general meeting of Ahold stockholders, to be held on 13 May in The Hague.

Hommen joined Philips in April 1997 as executive vice president and CFO. He was appointed to his current position in April 2002. Previously, he was executive vice president and CFO of Alcoa, the Aluminum Company of America, a position he held since 1991.
