Dutch retailer Ahold has announced that it has received the request that the VEB (Association of Dutch Stockholders) has filed at the Enterprise Chamber of the Amsterdam Court of Appeals for an inquiry into alleged mismanagement at the company between 1999 and 2003.

Commenting on the VEB request, Ahold reiterated its belief that the procedure is “unnecessary and premature, given the fact that a number of external investigations have been underway for much of the past year”. Ahold said the new request adds nothing to investigations currently underway.

The retailer also said that such an inquiry would negatively affect the company’s business.
