The retail giant told just-food today (23 June) that it plans to revamp its entire 750-strong estate of Albert Heijn stores and has lined up eighty outlets for the refurbishment this year.

A spokesperson for Albert Heijn said: “The cycle of a store lasts for seven years and it was time to think about a new concept.”

Ahold has no plans to revamp its other formats under the Albert Heijn banner, which include the XL hypermarkets and the convenience chain “AH to go”.
