The supervisory board of Dutch retailer Royal Ahold has announced its proposal to nominate Anders C. Moberg as president and chief executive officer of the company.
Moberg will assume the position of acting CEO, effective 5 May. His appointment to the corporate executive board will be proposed at the annual general meeting of shareholders, which will be held at a later date this year.
Moberg has had a long career in international retailing, most notably with the Swedish furniture manufacturer and retailer IKEA Group, which he joined in 1970. From 1986 to 1999, Moberg served as CEO and president of IKEA Group, working closely with Ingvar Kamprad, the founder and owner of IKEA.
In 1999 Moberg joined the US-based company Home Depot, the second largest home goods retailer in the United States, as division president, international, a position he held until 2002.
