Ten Brinke said the latest research from ACNielsen showed that Albert Heijn had gained market share in the fourth quarter, following a long period of declining market share, reported Dow Jones International News.

In the first two quarters, the chain’s market share declined 1.2%, while for the full year, Albert Heijn’s share slid 0.9% from 27.5% in 2002.

The chain launched a price-cutting campaign in the latter part of 2003, aimed at winning back customers.
