Troubled Dutch retailer Ahold said it has accepted the resignation of Franck Curci, president and CEO of its US Tops Markets unit, effective immediately.
Curci was in the midst of a transition to the position of chief operating officer at Ahold’s Giant Food of Landover, Maryland.
In May, Ahold announced that through an internal audit it had discovered accounting irregularities at Tops. Curci was seen as being responsible for oversight and control of the business. Therefore it was determined that it was not appropriate for Curci to assume his new role at Giant Food, reported Dow Jones International News.
Max Henderson has assumed the role of executive vice president and general manager at Tops, reporting to Tony Schiano, president and CEO of Giant Food Stores. Giant-Landover does not plan to fill the chief operating officer position at this time.
