No Meat Factory, the Canadian alternative-protein co-manufacturer, is set to shut its only US factory.
The plant in Stanwood in Washington state is scheduled to close on 16 September, impacting around 123 jobs, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) filing.

In 2023, No Meat Factory acquired the Stanwood operations from frozen vegetables supplier Twin City Foods, which had closed the site in 2017.
The company invested $20m to convert the plant, with the upgrade backed by a $200,000 grant from the Washington state department of commerce.
Founded in 2019 by Dieter Thiem and Leon Bell, No Meat Factory produces plant-based meat and fish substitutes like meatballs and crab cakes, for retail and foodservice customers.
It also makes whole-food vegetable offerings such as kale and quinoa burgers as well as spinach broccoli popcorn.
The Canadian company started its first production line in 2021 and opened a plant in British Columbia the following year.
In January 2023, No Meat Factory raised $42m in a Series B funding round led by Tengelmann Growth Partners, a family-owned private-equity investor based in Germany.
Emil Capital Partners, a US early-stage growth investor who had backed the company at its launch, also participated in the Series B round.
