Noble Foods, owner of the UK-based free-range egg supplier The Happy Egg Co. and premium pudding brand Gü Puds, has appointed British businessman John Gildersleeve as chairman to oversee strategic plans for “diversification and acquisition”.

The company said the appointment of Gildersleeve, who served on the board of Tesco for 20 years, follows the restructuring of its own board and a number of senior management appointments to support its “long-term ambitions in the UK and overseas”.

Gildersleeve is currently chairman of British Land PLC, a FTSE top 50 property company, and deputy chairman of telecoms firm TalkTalk. He is a former non-executive director of Vodafone, Lloyds TSB and Dixons Carphone, as well as ex-chairman of New Look and Carphone Warehouse.

In a related move, Noble has appointed Tim Morris as company secretary, who the business said “brings a wealth of experience in corporate finance, including delivering ambitious strategic plans”.
