Heinz plans to launch a beans on toast product to be heated up in the toaster – making a simple dish even more convenient. The new beans on toast concept will initially be rolled out in New Zealand, with a view to going global if the test run is a success.

The new product will potentially hit the New Zealand marketplace within the next 12-15 months, Heinz spokesperson Nigel Dickie told just-food.

He said: “We would have to see how well it performs and is accepted in New Zealand before introducing the product elsewhere.”

The product is reportedly similar in principle to Kellogg’s Pop Tart range. With beans sandwiched between two layers of toast, Heinz is hoping that it will be able to turn the old favourite beans on toast into beans in toast.
