Despite a net loss of PlZ30m (US$7m) in 2001, Polish meat-processing group Sokolow is expecting a net profit in 2002, having increased exports this year.

For the first half of 2002, Sokolow reported revenue of PlZ428m and an operating profit of PlZ3.8m. Its net loss was down to PlZ0.34m.

Sokolow’s international exports have increased to PlZ42m worth of goods sold on international markets during the first half of this year, compared with the ZL26m sold during the same period last year. The company expects to have sold 6.8% of its stock by the end of 2002 to entities linked to the Swedish Farmers’ Federation and Swedish meats. CDM Pekao SA will manage the transaction.
