Portuguese conglomerate Sonae has launched a franchised supermarket chain called ‘Meu Super’ (My Supermarket).

The company said yesterday (2 February) that the stores, which will be based predominantly in residential areas, will cover a sales area of 150-1,000 square metres.

The group said that franchisees will benefit from “the guarantee of competive pricing, a broad and deep brand of private-label products”, as well as computer systems and its “excellent platform logistics”.

Sonae also announced plans to develop its wholesale business, through building its convenience supply channel. The group said the channel will have its own sales force, make deliveries, while offering “advantageous terms of payment”.
