Russian meat processor Cherkizovo Group has recorded volume increases in both its poultry and pork divisions in the first quarter.
Sales volumes in the firm’s poultry division climbed 42% to around 75,860 tonnes in the three-month period. The increase reflected the contribution from Cherkizovo’s newly-launched sites at Bryansk and sales from Mosselprom, which it acquired in May last year.
In the firm’s pork division, volumes increased 12% to around 22,660 tonnes. Volumes in Cherkizovo’s meat processing division, however, slid 12% to 29,115 tonnes in the quarter. The decline, the company said, was primarily due to the closure of an “inefficient” slaughtering facility in southern Russia.
